Stonehenge - previously unreleased material from a simpler time. Some of our voices hadn't even changed yet! Protools was around, but the only studio we could afford was a small one with an old analog 8 track reel-to-reel called Soundscape Studios in Poughkeepsie, NY. We tracked all basics, the rhythm and some of the leads live because that's all we knew. We completed the basics for all 8 original songs in two days. We spent the third day overdubbing vocals and some solos. And on the fourth, we mixed and finished the project. Not bad for a bunch of kids with no studio experience. Since we were on a tight budget, most of these are first takes. I remember getting yelled at by my bandmates because I was still writing and adding parts right up to the recording date. Ahhh... the enthusiasm and ignorance of youth. Sometimes ignorance is bliss! |

Stonehenge was our first band as teenagers. The core of the band, Cone, Chris and Carlo met in 8th grade...age 13 or so. Chris had drums and Carlo had a guitar, but they were total beginners. Cone started off as the singer, but it wasn't long before we all decided to make him the bass player. Shortly after that we added Ray on guitar. Man what our parents must have thought about the noises we were making in their basements... that and the excessively long breaks that had to reek of herb. Alan was added years later as one of our many attempts to add a real singer. He was more of a steady guest than a full member. Band members: Chris Reilly on drums, Cone Beckham on bass and vocals, Ray Mcdermott on guitar, Alan Eggar on harmonica and vocals, Carlo Letizia on guitars and vocals All content ©2007 Letizia.
